Rutgers Center for Government Services, in partnership with New Jersey State Police/New Jersey Task Force One Urban Search and Rescue Team, announces employment opportunities for certified instructors in Trench Rescue Operations I & II and Introduction to Command and Control of Collapse Rescue Incidents.
NFPA 1670 WATER RESCUE AWARENESS
This course trains personnel in the most current techniques of boating and water safety. The course will have rescuers become familiar with the proper procedures used in basic water safety and safe boat handling, demonstrate a proficiency in water rescue, and provide a competency in dealing with on the water emergencies.
TRENCH RESCUE OPERATIONS I & II
This course is designed to provide the student with the capabilities to assess special needs and conduct special operations in and around a trench collapse. Students will have the ability to evaluate, manage, and perform a Trench Rescue in accordance with NFPA 1006. This course follows all aspects of OSHA 29 CFR 1926 Subpart P Excavations.
INTRODUCTION TO COMMAND AND CONTROL OF COLLAPSE RESCUE INCIDENTS
this course is designed to be an introduction and guide to Command and Control of Collapse Rescue Incidents for Fire and Emergency Service First Responders. The student will be provided with a basis to successfully manage a collapse rescue incident through the utilization of proven and commonly used strategies and tactics. The student will gain a basic understanding of the Command Positions and Responsibilities, Structural Classifications, Urban Search and Rescue Resources, the Phases of a Collapse Rescue Incident, Incident Action Planning, Command Level Operational Checklists, Task Level Operational Checklists, Ongoing Operational Concerns, and Common Hazards and Avoidance Strategies. These prior topics, classroom discussion, related handouts, and participation in tabletop exercises will provide the student with a framework upon which to construct a successful and controlled response to a Collapse Rescue Incident.
STRUCTURAL COLLAPSE OPERATIONS
This course is designed to provide participants with the operational knowledge, skills and abilities to perform rescue at structural collapse scenes due to natural disasters or human forces.
STRUCTURAL COLLAPSE OPERATIONS II
This course is designed to provide participants with the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform rescue at structural collapse scenes due to natural disasters or human forces. This course differs from the Collapse Rescue Operations as it provides increased time to perform more in-depth skill sets as required by the FEMA US&R curriculum.
CONFINED SPACE/ROPE AND RIGGING
This course is designed to provide emergency responders with the ability to successfully perform the proper techniques and skills at Awareness and Operation Levels while operating in confined space environments within the guidelines of PEOSHA/OSHA’s regulations and NFPA Standards. The Rope and Rigging section is designed so emergency responders can understand the proper techniques in using specialized rope and rigging equipment to conduct a confined space rescue. Emergency responders are trained in proper knots, hauling/lowering systems, safety belays systems, and rescue duties.
